Home Information Packs

The Government says it is committed to making it easier
for people buying and selling homes in England and
Wales through the introduction of the Home Information
Pack (otherwise known as HIPs).
Under the Housing Act 2005, from the 10th September
2007 homeowners of three bedroom plus properties,
their solicitors or selling agents will be required to have
available, or at the very least commissioned, a HIP from
the date of marketing the property for sale.
The Government hope that the HIP will make the
conveyancing process more efficient, clearer and easier
for consumers and therefore minimise the risk of
transactions falling through at a late stage.
