WHSmith fined after customer falls through trapdoor
Taunton Magistrates Court have fined WH Smith £337,500 after a member of the public fell through a trapdoor in their Taunton store.
Whilst the trapdoor was open a woman fell down the stairs and required 3 operations to repair her heel as a result.
The scale of the fine shows how important it is to comply with basic Health & Safety requirements.
